I had an assessment visit on 14 October. Windows and loft all passed to their standards. They condemned the boiler which was switched off and was told to wait 4 or 6 weeks for someone to install a new boiler. On 18 January I called them only to find out that there was a "problem" with the initial inspection and survey and they would have to start the process again having to wait another 4 or 6 weeks. Total JOKE

As an old age pensioner living what was so far a mild winter are you hoping I die before spring to save the money?

Hi James, Depending on where you live you should see if you are eligible for any grants. Please see this page http://www.homeheatingguide.co.uk/boiler-central-heating-grants.html which will guide you in the right direction.

my wife and I are both over 80 , and our Potterton oil-fired boiler ( which is over thirty years old ) has broken down and spares are no longer available. We would like to replace the boiler with a new Grant-Vortex 26/36 ( for ease of servicing ) which would also be more economical .

Please advise me as to whether I qualify for a new oil central heating boiler and or extra loft insulation. There is insulation there already but I understand it may not be enough. I am 76 years old and my boiler is at least fifteen years old and I receive council tax benefit. I rely on a state pension for income. With thanks, J Gregory

I am 77 year old disabled lady with no heating my boiler has broken down and yet I cannot even get through to report the fault - it is not a fault with the condenser being frozen as my son in law works for a central heating company and had checked this for me. he has shut the boiler down completely and said it has a crack in it and is unsafe to use.

I had an assessor out on the 21st May 2010 he told me my boiler was repairable and that the part would be ordered. Upon leaving he said 'you should hear from the office soon, if you dont ring the number in the pack.' I didn't hear anything so rang the number on several occasions between may and October to be told that I would have to wait 6 months which would take me to 21st November. I have rang today to be told 'It will be another year before my work is allocated to an installer' ?? I have am a single parent to 3 children and hae been without hot water and heating for 6 months. The Warm Front brochure clearly states that work will be carried out up to 6 months after the technical survey. I am waiting for a team leader to ring me back and have sent an email complaining. My next step will most definitely be my local MP!!
