EDF Complaints Increase Despite a General Decline

Recently released figures indicate customer complaints for the majority of the ‘Big Six’ energy firms have undergone a surprising decline.

The fourth quarterly energy complaints league table, released by Consumer Focus earlier this month, reveals that between April to June 2011, the number of complaints received by energy providers was down on previous months.

With skyrocketing fuel bills, one would be forgiven for thinking customers would have much to complain about. However, with the latest round of price increases starting to hit consumers from August – in the case of Scottish Power – it’s too early to tell what impact this will have on customer complaints.

While five out of the six top energy firms witnessed a drop in the amount of complaints, SSE was the supplier with the least number of complaints. However, it’s a different story for EDF Energy, who faced a 19% increase number of complaints during this period. Although Consumer Focus indicates the implementation of a new billing system being responsible for the high number of complaints.

With rising fuel bills set to be an on-going concern for energy customers, there are a variety of energy saving tips consumers should consider implementing – from fitting energy saving light bulbs and switching off electrical appliances when not in use, to fitting loft insulation.
