Helping UK homeowners save money on their heating

Plumbing Industry Threatened by Lack of Skilled Workers

A recent survey asked professional plumbers to share their thoughts on the biggest threat to the industry, with more than half (54%) identifying a lack of skilled workers.

The survey, carried out by Hep20, asked nearly 400 industry professionals to share their thoughts on the plumbing sector.

With industry professionals themselves expressing concern about the number of skilled workers, it could make it harder for homeowners to find a fully-qualified plumber.

In response to the findings, Hep20 Marketing Manager, Karen Stables, expressed how they will be tackling the problem: “It’s no surprise that the skills shortage remains a significant concern in the industry and our survey only reinforces how large scale the problem still is.

“Here at Hep2O, we actively work with key colleges and students to educate them on the benefits the trade as a career path. Collaboration will be key for us an industry to tackle the problem effectively.”

Plumbers remain very passionate about their industry, with leading industry voices encouraging experienced professionals to support anyone training to be a plumber.

The results of this survey stresses the importance for homeowners to check the qualifications of any tradesperson they hire.
